Substation & Panel Commissioning
End-to-end commissioning of MV/HV substations and switchgear, from energization to final handover.
Commissioning proves that the substation or panel works exactly as designed before power reaches the client or the network. ENP works step by step with signed checklists so no stage is missed and people and equipment stay safe.
Commissioning stages
| Stage | Activities | Output |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Document review | Single-line diagrams, control circuits, signal list, protection study | List of discrepancies before start |
| 2. Mechanical and electrical inspection | Tight connections, labelling, phasing, mechanical interlocks | Inspection form |
| 3. Pre-energization tests | Equipment, relays, CT/VT circuits, trip and close, alarms | Test report per item |
| 4. Overall system function test | Full chain from protection to breaker, interlocks, signals to SCADA | Function checklist |
| 5. Staged energization | Upstream to downstream, coordinated with the operator | Energization approval |
| 6. On-load tests | Power direction, differential, phasing and vector check with real load | Final protection approval |
| 7. Handover | As-built drawings, final settings, operator training | Handover folder |
Key pre-energization checks
- CT circuits: secondary not open, actual ratio, polarity and single-point earthing
- VT circuits: phase sequence, fuses and no secondary short circuit
- Trip circuit: trip circuit supervision and trip test from each relay
- Interlocks: disconnector and earth switch, local and remote mode, mechanical locks
- DC supply: voltage, charger and earth-fault alarm
- Insulation resistance of the whole panel and cables
At energization and on load
- No-load first: voltage measurement, phase sequence and synchro-check
- Transformer inrush and differential relay stability against it
- Gradual loading with checks of power direction, angle and each phase current
- For differential: minimum differential current under real load
- Recording of live data for the archive
Safety
Before starting we complete the work permit, lock-out tag-out (LOTO), earthing confirmation and the team safety briefing. Energization is done only in coordination with the operator and in the presence of the authorized person.
Handover documents
We hand over as-built drawings, all test reports, final as-left setting files, the punch list of remaining items and a short operating guide.
